Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the MeroTag platform, operated by MeroTag Nepal Pvt Ltd ("MeroTag", "we", "our", or "us"). Please read these Terms carefully before using the service.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the MeroTag platform — including the website, mobile interface, QR tag activation flows, or any associated services — you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use MeroTag. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and MeroTag Nepal Pvt Ltd, the company that owns and operates MeroTag. We may update these Terms from time to time, and your continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
2. Description of Service
MeroTag is a QR-based identity and recovery platform. It allows businesses and individuals to generate QR tags that can be attached to pets, vehicles, electronics, and other personal belongings. When a finder scans the tag, they are shown a public recovery profile and a means to contact the registered owner. MeroTag provides: - QR tag generation, printing, and management tools - An owner dashboard for activating and managing tags - A public scan page visible to finders - An admin control panel for bulk operations and business clients - Analytics and recovery reporting MeroTag does not guarantee the recovery of any lost item, pet, or vehicle. The platform facilitates contact between finders and owners; the outcome of a recovery is outside our control.
3. Account Registration
To use MeroTag, you must create an account using a valid email address or a supported third-party sign-in method (currently Google). You agree to: - Provide accurate and truthful information when registering - Keep your login credentials confidential and not share them with others - Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access to your account - Be responsible for all activity that occurs under your account You must be at least 18 years old to create a MeroTag account. If you are registering on behalf of a business or organisation, you represent that you have the authority to bind that entity to these Terms.
4. QR Tag Usage
MeroTag tags are issued for legitimate identification and recovery purposes only. By activating a MeroTag tag, you agree that: - You own or have the right to register the item, pet, or vehicle associated with the tag - The information you provide in the tag profile is accurate and up to date - You will not use a tag to impersonate another person or create a misleading identity profile - You will not activate a tag with the intent to harass, defraud, or deceive finders or other users - Each physical tag has a unique serial number. You may not reassign a tag to a different item once it has been activated without first deactivating it through your dashboard Tags remain the intellectual property of MeroTag Nepal Pvt Ltd. The physical tag and the associated digital profile are provided as part of the MeroTag service and may not be reverse-engineered or duplicated.
5. Public Scan Pages
When your tag is scanned by a finder, a public profile is displayed. You are solely responsible for the content of your tag profile, including any text, contact details, or reward messages. You must not include in your public profile: - Content that is defamatory, obscene, abusive, or unlawful - False claims, misleading information, or impersonation of others - Personal data about third parties without their consent - Advertising or commercial solicitation unrelated to the recovery purpose of the tag MeroTag reserves the right to take down any public profile that violates these Terms or applicable law without prior notice.
6. Prohibited Uses
You agree not to use the MeroTag platform to: - Violate any applicable local, national, or international law or regulation - Transmit any unsolicited or unauthorised advertising, promotional material, or spam - Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the platform, other user accounts, or our servers - Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data from the platform using automated tools - Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the platform or its infrastructure - Circumvent any rate limits, access controls, or security mechanisms - Use the platform in any way that could damage the reputation of MeroTag or MeroTag Nepal Pvt Ltd We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account found in violation of these prohibitions.
7. Intellectual Property
All content on the MeroTag platform — including but not limited to the logo, design, software code, QR generation engine, text, graphics, and layout — is the intellectual property of MeroTag Nepal Pvt Ltd and is protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the platform for its intended purpose. This licence does not permit you to copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works from any part of the platform. Content you create and upload (such as tag profile descriptions and photos) remains your property. By submitting it, you grant MeroTag a licence to display it as part of the service.
8. Privacy
Your use of the MeroTag platform is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Please read the Privacy Policy carefully to understand how we collect, use, and protect your personal information. The Privacy Policy is available at merotag.com/privacy.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
The MeroTag platform is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without any warranties of any kind, either express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, MeroTag Nepal Pvt Ltd disclaims all warranties, including but not limited to: - Warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement - That the platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or harmful components - That lost items, pets, or vehicles will be recovered as a result of using the service - That any information displayed on the platform is accurate, complete, or current Your use of the platform is at your sole risk.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, MeroTag Nepal Pvt Ltd and its directors, employees, and partners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the platform, including but not limited to: - Loss of data or personal property - Failure to recover a lost item, pet, or vehicle - Unauthorised access to your account - Any interruption or cessation of the service In no event shall our total liability to you for all claims exceed the amount you paid to us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or NPR 1,000 (whichever is greater), even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
11. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to MeroTag at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms, applicable law, or if your use poses a risk to the platform or other users. You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us at support@merotag.com. Upon termination, your tag profiles will be deactivated and your personal data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property rights, disclaimers, and limitations of liability — shall continue to apply.
12. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Nepal. Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the MeroTag platform shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Kathmandu, Nepal. If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
